Braidwood Airing of the Quilts | Festival 2024
Our annual Airing of the Quilts event is coming up on 23rd November 2024.
A long-standing tradition is returning to the streets of Braidwood in November.
Annual quilting event to keep the body (and the soul) warm.
What used to happen in the 1800s and early 1900s was that come spring, you hung all your quilts and blankets out to air and get all the dust off them.
Past Airing of the Quilt Highlights
Two-day Exhibition and Competition Quilt Show hosted by the Braidwood Quilters will be held in the National Theatre on Wallace Street, and will be open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm both days (with gold coin entry).
Quilts from all genres will be hung from the historic town's 19th century verandahs.
The Travelling Suitcase' exhibition will showcase 41 small quilts from Quilt NSW. Each year, quilters from all over NSW create small quilts specific to the year's theme, which will then be judged at the Sydney Quilt show, before beginning their journey around the state - starting from Braidwood. There will also be 10 additional small quilts from Canberra Quilters on exhibit.
The Braidwood Quilt Store Challenge - daring quilters of all levels of experience and skill to create something unique using a specific piece of fabric. Display at the exhibition in the National Theatre
Quilts will also be on exhibit at St Andrews Anglican Church on Saturday and Sunday morning and at St Andrews Uniting Church on Saturday.
