Historic Houses Trust

The Historic Houses Trust is a statutory authority within the Office of Environment and Heritage. It is one of the largest state museums in Australia and is entrusted with the care of key historic buildings and sites in New South Wales.

HHT was established in 1980 to run Vaucluse House and Elizabeth Bay House and has now grown to manage 14 diverse sites and properties including houses, public buildings, a farm, gardens, parklands, a beach and urban spaces. The HHT holds extensive collections in each of its properties and conducts a dynamic range of programs and activities attracting over two million visitors to our houses and museums each year.

To inspire appreciation of Australias diverse histories and cultural heritage for present and future generations by conserving, interpreting and managing, with integrity, places of cultural significance, in the care of the Historic Houses Trust.
