Parkinsons NSW Inc.

Parkinsons NSW Incorporated is a non-profit, community-based organisation established in 1979 to provide information, counselling and support to people living with Parkinsons disease.

Our resources such as Infoline and our network of support groups throughout NSW have helped many individuals and their families better manage living with Parkinsons disease.

We also have an advocacy role on behalf of the Parkinsons disease community and strive to increase community awareness about the disease through educational sessions and promotional events.

On a national level, affiliation with Parkinsons Australia provides strong links with other state Parkinsons organisations. We also maintain contact with other Parkinsons organisations around the world.

Parkinsons NSW seeks to make a positive contribution to the provision of treatment and professional support services for people with Parkinsons disease. We provide in-service training and education to health professionals, as well as cooperate with and encourage support for clinical research.

Parkinsons NSW supports stem cell research and is a member of The Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research Australia. (See Parkinsons NSW policy.

CAMRA endorses and encourages research with both embryonic and adult stem cells into the cause, treatment and prevention of diabetes, Parkinsons disease, spinal cord injury, motor neurone disease and many other neurodegenerative and neuromuscular disorders.

We encourage research into Parkinsons disease and co-operate with those undertaking it. We advocate on behalf of the Parkinsons community and strive to increase community awareness of the disease. We look towards taking a leadership role in representing the Parkinsons community in NSW and Australia-wide.
