Parliament House | Open & Tours

A range of programs and events are scheduled throughout the year for the public to engage with the workings of the parliament.

These events are designed for families and adults, and can offer the opportunity to view the chambers in session, meet with Members, and on non-sitting days to sit in the chambers.

School Holiday Tours
Join us at 11:30am or 1:30pm each weekday during the September school holidays for a free tour with our expert guides. Visit the historic chambers of the Parliament and peek into some of Sydney's oldest rooms. School holiday tours begin on Monday September 25. Tours will not be available on Monday October 2 due to the Labour Day public holiday.

Public Tours (outside of school holidays)
Join us every Monday and Friday at 1:30pm for a free guided tour and step back in time into one of Sydney's oldest buildings.

While walk-ins are always welcome, we recommend that you book in advance to obtain your preferred date and time slot.

Visit both chambers where laws are made and some of Sydney's oldest rooms in Australia's first Parliament.

Over one hour, our friendly guides will take you around the parliamentary precinct and through the historic legislative chambers. You will experience first-hand the beautiful colonial architecture while learning more about the role, history and work of the Parliament.

During school holidays, tours take place at 11.30am and 1.30pm each weekday.

For any enquiries about the Public Tours or for groups of 10 or more people, please call 9230 3444 to make a separate booking time or email us.

The tour is conducted in English and is suitable for visitors of all ages. Access to historic rooms and the chambers is subject to availability on the day of your tour.

Public Talks
Parliament Unpacked: A series of programs exploring how the Parliament works by providing visitors with an over view of the legislature, an opportunity to view the Chambers in session and then a chance to hear about the work of Members and Parliamentary Officers.

House Talks: A series of theme based talks with a focus on historical events, important anniversaries and engaging topics where we invite expert speakers to inform and entertain us.
