Sydney's oldest pub The Fortune of War dates from 1828.

Located in The Rocks, Fortune of War is Sydney's oldest pub serving traditional Australian food, a multitude of draught beers, wines and spirits, and boasts live music evenings Wednesday-Sunday.

Whilst retaining its old world charm and hamper style bar, the hotel has built an enviable reputation, with tourists and locals alike, for providing warm traditional service in a cozy, heritage bar.

As the oldest continuously licensed public hotel in Sydney the Fortune of War is embodied in the history of Sydney.

The bar has a "colourful"reputation, which includes being the first and last port of call of generations of Australian soldiers involved in theatres of conflict.

The Fortune of War has a long term reputation as a popular "first and last stop ashore"for sailors and the troops of the Australian Armed Forces who were to experience the fortune of the war when they departed Sydney Cove to defend their country.

The Fortune of Wars George Street Bar is a heritage listed hamper style bar, the perfect place for a drink and a chat during the day and full of activity at night.
