The Paper Mill, opened on September 7, 2010, is a volunteer run, not-for-profit artist run space.
Thanks to Sydney City Council, The Paper Mill has secured a high profile venue in the CBD with subsidised rent. A former bookshop in Sydneys bustling Ash Street has been transformed into the new creative space for The Paper Mill.
The shopfront has been revamped into a creative arts incubator for artists to teach, exhibit and work on paper-based art. Artists, business people and members of the general public will be able to access The Paper Mill during their working week to seek creative information, be inspired, learn new skills and experience the underbelly of the Sydney art scene.
The Paper Mill is committed to providing an inclusive environment to facilitate all aspects of paper based art.
The Paper Mill will be an active space which will include:
Exhibition openings: open to the general public to launch exhibitions in The Paper Mill each month
Artist Talks and Forums: open to the public one night each month
Workshops for the general public: a Thursday drawing workshop once a month; a Saturday workshop on the third Saturday of each month and a series of Lunch Break workshops held every Friday from 12pm to 1pm.
