Free dog obedience classes for September |
City of Sydney is taking bookings for its very popular September free dog obedience classes for residents living in Sydneys CBD and inner city suburbs.
The dog obedience classes have been run for the past 18 months and have helped train more than puppies and dogs.
City of Sydney CEO Monica Barone said: "The classes are part of City of Sydneys ongoing commitment to encouraging and supporting responsible companion animal ownership.
"We have recently increased the number of offleash parks, and our Rangers conduct regular patrols in uniform and plain clothes to enforce NSW Companion Animals legislation. We also offer discounted desexing, free microchipping and free transport for dogs and cats being desexed.
"Pets are an important part of inner city life as they can break down social isolation between people and encourage exercise which makes for a better quality of life and a friendlier, livelier city,"Ms Barone said.
The first dog obedience training class will start on Saturday 20 September and run each Saturday for six weeks through to 25 October. The classes will be held in Sydney Park, St Peters; Harmony, Park Surry Hills; and Federal Park, Glebe.
Basic dog obedience training classes will teach dogs to sit, come when called, stay,
drop to the ground, walk on leash without pulling and socialise with other dogs. Intermediate classes will also be offered for dogs that have previously undergone training to help them perform commands around distractions such as other dogs and crowds.
The classes are open to City of Sydney residents and residents in the neighbouring council areas of Marrickville, Leichhardt, Woollahra and Botany Bay.
