Leichhardt Oval |
Leichhardt Oval is an iconic venue popular amongst both players and supporters of many codes and is available for continued use throughout the year. It is also regarded as a boutique training venue for visiting and local high level teams.
Leichhardt Oval was first used as a Rugby League ground in 1934, the same year becoming the home of the Balmain Tigers.
As well as NRL, the Wests Tigers NSW Cup and NYC teams regularly play home games at the Oval.
Local Junior Rugby League is supported at Leichhardt Oval with the ground being the home of the Balmain Tigers Junior Rep teams and Development Squads Both the Harold Matthews and SG Ball Grand Finals are played at Leichhardt Oval.
Its proximity to Sydney CBD hotels (8 mins drive) and the high standard of the surface and facilities make Leichhardt Oval attractive to visiting and local clubs demonstrated in 2015 by Asia Cup International teams,
Leichhardt Oval and its facilities is available for filming, commercials, videos and other promotional clips.
Home of the Tigers since 1934, Leichhardt Oval is one of the great suburban rugby league grounds. The ground has primarily been used for rugby league during this time, but has also been host to football and rugby union. It currently is home to Balmain Tigers Junior Representative teams, Wests Tigers NRL games, Sydney FC and Sydney Stars NRC team.
