Lights Camera Action

Lights Camera Action

Lights Camera Action is a non-profit community service initiated by the City of Sydney and managed in conjunction with Youth Services.

The project gives local Indigenous people an opportunity to gain acting and extra work in film and television, and in print media advertising.

The City of Sydney is fortunate to have a large urban Indigenous population living beside many socially, ethnically and culturally diverse groups. This makes the City of Sydney an exciting and culturally varied inner city area and the whole community enjoys the benefits of this exciting cosmopolitan atmosphere.

A major aim of Lights Camera Action is to address the under-representation of Indigenous people in film, television and print. The program is also developing a creative solution to the high unemployment rate of young people in the area and having an impact on low self-esteem, poverty and racism.

Lights Camera Action acts as the Agent for Indigenous people living in the City of Sydney Local Government Area who want to get started in the industry.

Initially we enter head shots of each person with their details onto the website. We currently have over 200 people on our books, more than 70% of who are Indigenous. Approved members such as Production Companies and Casting Agents are able to access this website and database when looking for people to cast in upcoming films, television shows and advertisements.

For more information on how to register to gain membership and access to the database please go to the Register for Lights Camera Action page via the link below.

If you are an Indigenous person living in the City of Sydney area and would like to join the Lights Camera Action project please phone David Beaumont at the City of Sydney on 02 9288 1 or mobile 0408115652.
