New weekly Friday farmers markets in the heart of Sydney

The freshest produce from across the Sydney basin will be available every Friday at a new weekly farmers market in the heart of the CBD.

The Hawkesbury Harvest Farmers & Fine Food Market will offer City residents and workers access to the freshest local fresh food and fine produce from across the Sydney basin.

"These new markets will be a welcome addition to the Sydney CBD, providing a lively place for people to shop, relax and enjoy fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, wine and a range of local produce,"said City of Sydney Creative Director Gill Minervini.

The markets are a partnership between the City of Sydney and Hawkesbury Harvest who will run the markets each Friday.

"Hawkesbury Harvest is a collective of farmers from the Sydney basin passionate about the Hawkesbury region and its agricultural heritage,"said Hawkesbury Harvest Secretary Alan Eagle.

"Were really excited about giving farmers from across the Sydney basin the opportunity to promote and sell their fresh, seasonal produce in the heart of the City."

The markets also build on the Citys Sustainable Sydney 2030 vision.

Hawkesbury Harvest is run in partnership with the Department of Primary Industry, State and Regional Development, and the University of Western Sydney.
