The Old Fitz Theatre

The Old Fitz Theatre is Australia's only remaining pub theatre, located in the basement of Woolloomooloo's beloved 150-year-old Old Fitzroy Hotel at 129 Dowling St, Woolloomooloo.

The intimate 58 seat theatre is nestled in the heart of Woolloomooloo and has a focus on providing a platform for local, emerging artists, explicitly staging new Australian works and encouraging audiences with exciting theatre at prices they can afford.

Over the past 26+ years, this unique 55-seat space has become the leading NSW venue for daring, bold, and innovative independent work, and has been the home to over 100 Australian Premieres of timely international works, new Australian works, and landmark revivals.

Balancing the intimate and the epic, the Old Fitz provides inclusive, accessible platforms for new work and new artists, and a home for industry heavyweights to return to for an experience unlike anything else Sydney offers, all whilst ensuring a safe space for all kinds of artistic expression.

The Old Fitz Theatre is located at 129 Dowling St, Woolloomooloo, and is part of the Old Fitzroy Hotel. It is within the Sydney CBD, is a 5 minute walk from Kings Cross train station, and easily accessible from William St.

Some street parking is available around the hotel on Cathedral and Dowling Streets. The closest parking stations are located on Riley St, Woolloomooloo and Ward Ave, Elizabeth Bay.
