Port Macquarie Observatory

Port Macquarie Observatory

Port Macquarie Observatory is run by Port Macquarie Astronomical Association Inc. a non-profit voluntary group of people interested in all things astronomy and science.

A new observatory is currently being built in Rotary Park behind Town Beach, a short distance from the centre of Port Macquarie.

Port Macquarie Astronomical Association's new observatory aims to bring astronomy and science to our local and tourist communities in a stimulating and engaging manner.

A NSW State and Federal Grant of $4.86 million and 60 years of community involvement in astronomy through the Port Macquarie Astronomical Observatory have enabled this to occur.

The new observatory will be open during the day and into the evening with a program of events and facilities to cater for all ages and all levels of interest in astronomy and science.

Port Macquarie Astronomical Association members acknowledge the Biripi People as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the local land, Biripi Country, and pay respect to the Elders past and present, extending that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders present in Biripi Country.
