Seymour Centre |
Located in the heart of the University of Sydney, the Seymour champions cultural exploration, arts education and audience engagement.
Each year over 250,000 people engage with the Centre as audience, theatre creators, directors, designers, technicians and performers - and the numbers are growing.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Seymour.
York Theatre
The York Theatre is the largest theatre in the centre and has a seating capacity of 788 in a semi-circular, amphitheatre configuration, featuring a thrust stage. Although the space is ideally suited to the presentation of theatre works, it can easily accommodate music, dance or concert style performances. With only 12 rows of seating from the back of the auditorium to the stage, the theatre offers an exceptional rapport between performers and audiences.

Everest Theatre
The Everest Theatre is a flexible theatre seating 513 (default mode) in a traditional proscenium-style.
Incorporating acoustic features to provide optimum sound quality, as well as a removable forestage that can vary the stage depth by over six metres, the Everest can be used for music, dance and theatre performances. It is also an ideal venue for conferences, seminars and film-screenings.

Reginald Theatre
The Reginald Theatre is a small, informal studio-style theatre that holds 153 people. With fixed raked seating that can be supplemented by additional seating in front of the stage area, this space is ideal for theatre and dance performances. Affordable hiring rates make it an ideal venue for smaller companies to present new work.

Sound Lounge
The newly refurbished Sound Lounge is a high-quality venue with a capacity of 120 in cafe-style seating. The Sound Lounge features a high quality sound system, fixed lighting grid, and small stage. As well as being a superb live music venue, the Sound Lounge is also ideally suited for cabaret performance and comedy, as well as seminars, small theatre productions and private cocktail functions.
For the exclusive use of Sound Lounge audiences, there is a fully licenced bar that also offers light refreshments. It is the perfect place to enjoy live music, including Friday and Saturday night jazz presented by SIMA (Sydney Improvised Music Association).
Amid relentless rain and gridlock, the new year has brought at least one positive: a completely revamped Sound Lounge. The stage has moved, the sound and lights have been upgraded and the low ceiling has vanished, making the room more airy and stylish - and very resonant. Sydney Morning Herald
