Swapping is the new shopping |
The City of Sydney and Planet Ark will host Sydneys biggest Swap Party Monday 10 November at 12.30 pm in Martin Place, Sydney CBD.
Everyone is invited to search through their belongings for up to three easy-to-carry, quality items they would like to swap, such as books, CDs, clothes, DVDs, and bric-a-brac. Exchange these for tokens on the day, then browse, choose, swap and enjoy.
Any challenges over an item will be resolved school yard style, with a game of Scissor, Paper, Rock deciding the outcome.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP said: "The Swap Party is about encouraging sustainability, recycling and reuse.
"Swap parties are a chance for people to gather and exchange items in a fun forum that promotes recycling and reuse while reducing our footprint on the environment,"Ms Moore said.
The City of Sydney is aiming for a 70 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 as part of its Sustainable Sydney 2030 strategy. A key part of this is about using resources more efficiently, recycling and reusing products and waste where possible.
Join MC Julie McCrossin for this free event at Martin Place, which is also the official launch for National Recycling Week (10 - 16 November). Browse the stalls, drop off your unwanted printer cartridges, mobile phones, batteries and find out more about how to "Recycle Right".
Any unwanted items at the end of the party will be donated to recycling workshops or a charity.
