Set in the heart of Sydney's CBD, Theatre Royal Sydney is set to re-open its doors and welcome audiences in 2021.

One of Australia's most loved cultural institutions and architectural masterpieces was designed by Harry Seidler and currently undergoing major redevelopment works as part of the development of 25 Martin Place.

Theatre Royal Sydney will be transformed to house world class productions from Australia and around the world from major musicals, plays, ballet & live music.

Operated by leading global live entertainment company Trafalgar Entertainment, Theatre Royal Sydney is collaborating with leading producers and promoters across our industry networks worldwide to establish a diverse programme of first-class theatre productions.

The Theatre Royal has been the home of shows from world renowned plays such as The Importance of Being Earnest, The Woman in Black and The Hollow Crown to mega-musicals, such as the Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Cats, Rent, Dirty Dancing, My Fair Lady and more recently the phenomenal long-running musical - Jersey Boys.

The first Theatre Royal was originally built in 1827. The current Theatre Royal, designed by Harry Seidler, opened in 1976. It is located in the MLC Centre, in the heart of Sydneys CBD.

Box Office Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm.
When there is a performance, the box office remains open until show time.
Weekend opening hours will vary according to performance times.

Collecting Tickets: It is advisable to collect your tickets in advance to avoid the queues: we recommend picking up your tickets before you head to the venue. If you decide to collect your tickets at the venue, be sure to arrive early to avoid potential delays.

Cloakroom: A free cloakroom service is located on the ground floor. This service is available approximately 45 minutes prior to the performance.

Backpacks and Large Bags: For comfort, safety and security reasons, we ask that you cloak all backpacks and large bags this is a condition of entry to the auditorium.

Alcohol is not permitted inside the auditorium.

There is no hearing loop at the Theatre Royal.
