The Australian Federation of Travel Agents Limited (AFTA) is the representative body for Australias travel agents with its Head Office located in Pitt Street, Sydney.
Mission Statement
To be truly representative of the travel agents of Australia. To promote travel and tourism and enhance the professionalism and profitability of its members through effective representation in industry and government affairs, education and training and by identifying and satisfying the needs of the travelling public.
Founded in 1957, AFTAs aim has been to stimulate, encourage and promote travel, and to uphold the interests of travel agents who form a vital part of Australias highly specialised travel and tourism industry.
AFTA represents the majority of travel agents in Australia and provides financial, legal and marketing benefits, education and training, and develops policies and strategies critical to the retail travel sector.
Members are eligible to participate in a range of schemes, which bring advantages to their bottom line. These include attractive merchant service fee rates and AFTA Travel Insurance, which offers value and security to members clients.
AFTAs research capability provides a valuable tool for arguments in support of our industrys concerns, aims and ambitions. AFTAs role as industry watchdog ensures that the viewpoint of the agent is transmitted through media outlets and through lobbying activities.
AFTA policies are established by a national Board of Directors in conjunction with the Chief Executive, and AFTA provides a unique forum of industry networking through its Chapter Meetings and Conferences.
AFTAs affiliated membership of the World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA) ensures that AFTAs views are listened to at international forums where issues of critical importance to Australian agents are decided.
As the voice of the industry, AFTAs slogan - Strength through Unity - has never been more appropriate.
