Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP today welcomed the election of Cr Marcelle Hoff as Deputy Lord Mayor and the new Deputy Chairs of the City of Sydneys Committees.
"I believe that City communities have endorsed us to continue the momentum for positive change: Implementing Sustainable Sydney 2030, continuing local village planning, completing the new City Plan, progressing our extensive capital works program for City facilities and infrastructure, and providing compassionate and practical solutions for complex inner city social challenges,"Ms Moore said.
"I am honoured to be re-elected with an increased vote for a second term as Lord Mayor and I look forward to working cooperatively with all Councillors."
The following positions were elected by the Council at its first meeting last night:
Deputy Lord Mayor - Cr Marcelle Hoff
Lord Mayor Clover Moore automatically retains the Chair of Council Committees, with the following Deputy Chairs elected:
Finance, Properties and Tenders Committee - Cr Robert Kok
Environment and Heritage Committee - Cr Phillip Black
Cultural and Community Services Committee - Cr Marcelle Hoff
Planning Development and Transport Committee and its sub-committees:
Planning Policy - Cr John McInerney
Major Development Assessment - Cr Di Tornai
Development Assessment - Cr Phillip Black
Traffic Committee - Cr John McInerney
The Council also elected Cr John McInerney and Cr Phillip Black to sit on the Central Sydney Planning Committee (CSPC) which considers major development applications worth more than $50 million.
The Lord Mayor is automatically appointed to the Committee and the NSW State Government nominates four other committee members with relevant planning, architecture and design experience.
"Through Sustainable Sydney 2030 we have mapped out an ambitious program to secure our Citys social, cultural, economic and environmental sustainability,"Ms Moore said
