Pirrama Park

The Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture awarded Pirrama Park for its stunning design in 2012.

Pirrama Park is a 1.8 hectare harbourside space in Pyrmont, located in the citys west.

The perfectly landscaped site includes grasslands, wide avenues, a playground, cafe, public toilets as well as picturesque spots for barbecues and picnics. The park has a sheltered bay where visitors can access the water and the floating pontoon can be used by private boats. Please note there is no ferry service from the park.

Formerly a base for the water police, the property was acquired by the City of Sydney in 2005. Look closely and youll see the original shoreline marked out by the foreshore esplanade, as the park was built on land reclaimed from the water. The Stevedore Walk tribute marks the areas history, which was once full of wharves and dock workers.

An accessible spinner in the playground ensures fun will be had by all ages, with the play equipment suitable for children with and without disability.

Sustainable features of the park include solar panels, rain water capture and re-use, energy efficient lighting and timber decking made from recycled materials.

To reach the park by public transport, catch the 389 bus. Pirrama Park is located at the end of Harris Street.

Pirrama Park honours the first Australians who lived in the area. It means
ocking stone in the Gadigal language.
